Apple is all set to launch this year’s iPhone models at some point in September. The Cupertino tech giant will introduce as many as four variants this year. These will include the standard iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Ahead of the launch, a handful of details regarding their specs have already leaked. Now, a fresh leak has revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro will have a brighter display than its predecessor.
The iPhone 16 Pro will offer a brighter display to deliver a better SDR content experience
According to Instant Digital on Weibo, the iPhone 16 Pro will flaunt a brighter display to provide a better SDR content experience. When delivering SDR content, the phone’s screen panel will have up to 1,200 nits of brightness. It will be a bump of 20% in overall brightness, compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. The last year’s iPhone Pro model’s brightness sits at 1,000 nits for SDR content.
The peak brightness will certainly be beneficial for better viewing in outdoor conditions. The company hasn’t changed the SDR brightness of the iPhones since the launch of the iPhone 13 Pro. After having the peak SDR brightness at 1,000 nits for a few years, the brand will provide improved levels with the next-gen Pro model.
While the source hasn’t mentioned it, we can expect the 16 Pro Max variant to offer the same level of SDR brightness as the regular Pro model. The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus variants are expected to retain the peak SDR brightness of 1,000 nits as their predecessors.
It’s worth mentioning that the change in the SDR illumination levels will not bump the overall brightness of the iPhone 16 Pro. It will remain the same at a maximum of 1,600 nits for HDR content viewing.
The iPhone 16 Pro could offer a 6.3-inch display and the A18 chipset
According to the rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to offer a 6.3-inch display. It will be slightly bigger than the 6.1-inch screen found on the iPhone 15 Pro. The higher-end iPhone 16 Pro Max model is said to offer a much larger 6.9-inch display. Under the hood, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to flaunt the new A-series A18 chipset. The SoC could have an upgraded Neural Engine for improved AI/machine learning performance.
For imaging, the iPhone 16 Pro could have a more advanced 48MP main camera sensor. It is said to have a stacked design for improved performance and Digital Gain Control for higher dynamic range & noise control.
We can also expect a slightly bigger battery on this year’s iPhone Pro model. More details about the next-gen iPhones are expected to emerge in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
