One UI 6.1 released for Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Fit 3 gets first update

There is no end to software updates coming out through Samsung‘s doors. The company is rapidly pushing One UI 6.1 to eligible Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ recently picked up the new One UI version. A new software update is also available for the Galaxy Fit 3.

Galaxy Tab S9 FE series gets Samsung’s One UI 6.1 update

Introduced on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, Samsung plans to push One UI 6.1 to all flagships and select mid-range products launched in 2021 and beyond. It has already updated all eligible flagship models in most parts of the world. The company has now shifted its attention to mid-range devices. Yesterday, the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 picked up the update. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE series is joining the party today.

Like most other devices, the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is initially available in Samsung’s home country South Korea. The two mid-range tablets from 2023 are getting the update with the firmware build number BXE1 (last four characters). The OTA (over the air) package weighs over 2GB and bundles the April 2024 security patch. Samsung didn’t include the May patch.

Like other mid-range devices, these Fan Edition (FE) tablets aren’t getting AI features with One UI 6.1. Samsung says Galaxy AI isn’t compatible with low-cost devices (they aren’t powerful enough to handle these resource-hungry features). Even the Galaxy S21 flagships and third-gen Galaxy foldables missed out on most AI features found in the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung’s 2022 flagships picked up the majority of Galaxy AI, though.

That said, One UI 6.1 still brings a lot to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+. Following this update, you can move subjects from one photo to another in Samsung Gallery. You also get other editing tools, an improved weather widget, multitasking improvements, new lock screen widgets, more wallpaper customizations, enhanced Samsung Health, calendar improvements, and several other goodies.

Galaxy Fit 3 grabs its first update

Amid a flurry of One UI 6.1 updates for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, Samsung hasn’t forgotten its other devices. The Galaxy Fit 3, the company’s first fitness band in over three years, is picking up its first software update. Weighing 21MB, it is a small update with some stability improvements in tow. Some users have reported issues with the step counter on the device. It remains to be seen if Samsung has fixed it. The update should roll out globally soon.
