Based on a new report, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 will offer notably improved CPU performance. To be more accurate, it will allegedly offer a 30% single-core CPU performance boost.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 could end up offering a notably improved CPU performance
Just to be clear, that improvement is indicated when compared to the Dimensity 9300, of course. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, one of China’s best-known tipsters.
The chip’s large core allegedly needs only 30% of the power consumption of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s CPU in order to accomplish the same tasks. Why? Well, the energy efficiency has been greatly improved, it seems.
The tipster claims that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is 35% more efficient than its predecessor. That sounds great on paper, and it could mean great things for the battery life of devices fueled by it.
It is especially great news as MediaTek’s flagship chips usually didn’t offer as great of a battery life as their Snapdragon 8 series competitors. Well, the phones that fueled them did not, at least in our experience. That could be changing moving forward, though.
This chip will launch in October, the same month as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
This processor will make its debut in October. That is also when the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to arrive, so we’ll get two flagship SoCs in the same month. Those two will be at the very top of the food chain, in addition to offerings from Samsung and Apple.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process. The chip is also said to be more expensive than its predecessor. The price is said to “increase slightly”.
This processor is said to offer over 30 billion transistors and span a massive 150 m2 in surface area. The chip is said to be “powerful and efficient”. Everything will be revealed in a couple of months.
