Google is working on the 4th generation of the Nest Learning Thermostat. The product is expected to bring a new design and some nice improvements. However, you don’t have to wait until the official launch day to see what it looks like. A new unboxing shows the next-gen Nest Thermostat in real life and the contents of its retail box. Also, a recent leak revealed promo material with key features and the price of the device.

Unboxing confirms the design and box contents of the next-gen Nest Learning Thermostat

TikToker @franklyhonestmanr could access the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) in all its colors. According to the short video, the product will be available in Polished Gold, Polished Obsidian, and Polished Silver colors. All models appear to have a shiny glass finish that looks quite elegant and decorative while also being futuristic. With the screen off, it looks similar to a massive Pixel Watch without the strap. The stainless steel case and screen with rounded borders help give this feeling.

As 9to5Google points out, the unboxing confirms that Google is modernizing the USB port on the new Nest Learning Thermostat, moving from the old USB-A to USB-C. However, this port only works for charging and some technical troubleshooting. The rear pedestal of the product appears to be made of plastic. The box also includes a Nest Temperature Sensor right next to the Learning Thermostat. The Nest Temperature Sensor has a mounting port if you prefer to set it up on a wall.

Google also seems to be modernizing the iconography on its retail boxes. The company is removing the multi-color “G” logo in favor of a simple monochrome logo. As for the rest of the box contents, there is a trim plate, a thermostat base, a steel plate, and mounting screws. It’s noteworthy that you can also buy the trim plate separately for $129.

According to a previous report, the new Nest Learning Thermostat will cost $279. The device is expected to launch on August 13 at the next Made by Google event.
