Acer debuted its take on handheld gaming PCs at IFA 2024
Acer was one of the last holdouts for a handheld gaming PC when it comes to the big PC brands that also make regular gaming PCs and laptops, and we were thoroughly impressed with its take on the genre, which is why we gave the Acer Nitro Blaze 7 the Best of IFA 2024 award here at Android Headlines.
Handheld gaming PCs like the Nitro Blaze 7 are not a new segment in the gaming industry, obviously. However, Acer has the opportunity to do something really magical here and introduce this device at an incredibly competitive price point. On the whole, the Nitro Blaze 7 looks like most of the other handheld gaming PCs already on the market. It features contoured back hand grips for ergonomic comfort, for one. It also has a reasonably sized 7-inch display and comes with lots of storage and a decent amount of RAM.
There are still plenty of details that we don’t know about the Nitro Blaze 7 yet because Acer didn’t share everything. However, we’re excited about what’s been confirmed so far. And as long as it’s a good price, it has the potential to be one of the best options for handheld PC gaming.
The Acer Nitro Blaze 7 has more internal storage than most handhelds
There are one or two handhelds out there from smaller brands that offer lots of storage options. That’s it though. The larger brands only go up to 1TB. Acer is doubling that by putting 2TB of storage in the Nitro Blaze 7. This means you’ll have more room for games and won’t need to rely on a microSD for additional game storage. That’s music to our ears as microSD cards are easy to lose. So the less you have to use them, the better.
Additionally, it uses a newer Ryzen 7 8840HS CPU, and it has a 144Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate is key here, because just about everything else either uses a 120Hz refresh rate or a 60Hz refresh rate. This helps Acer’s Nitro Blaze 7 stand out for those who want the highest refresh rate possible. While we still need to figure out what the price is and how long the battery life will last, the Nitro Blaze 7 is already shaping up to be a compelling handheld gaming PC. And that’s why we felt it deserves the Best of IFA 2024 award.
