Instagram unveils 2024 year-end features including a recap Collage

Instagram is one of the popular social media apps with over a billion monthly active users. Considering its popularity, it’s no surprise that Instagram often adds new features to keep users hooked to the platform. Now, Instagram is kicking off the end-of-year celebrations by adding a bunch of new features including the 2024 recap Collage feature for Stories.

Instagram adds the 2024 recap Collage and more features for end-of-year celebrations

Instagram’s new Collage feature for Stories allows you to recap and share your favorite memories from 2024. You can easily compile your favorite photos from the year into a single, stylish post. Additionally, Instagram is introducing custom “Add Yours” templates themed for the New Year. These templates give you a new way to engage and share experiences with your family and friends.

Instagram is also adding a “New Year” font and “Countdown” text effect that you can use in Stories, Reels, and Feed posts to celebrate the New Year. If you like personalizing the conversation, Instagram has got your back with new holiday chat themes for DMs. You can choose from new theme options like “Mariah Carey,” “New Year,” and “Chill” to set the mood for texting.

If you like surprises, Instagram is also rolling out some secret phrases in Notes and DMs that trigger a fun animation or effect. For example, you can try typing in phrases like “Happy New Year” or “Hello 2025” to see those effects.

The new features are available for a limited time

This isn’t the first time Instagram is adding new features specifically for holidays or events. The platform is often quick to catch up with new trends to boost user experience and engagement on the platform. Let’s not forget that these new features are time-limited, so hurry up and make the most of it!

While Instagram is adding new experiences for its users, its CEO Adam Mosseri is also concerned about the use of AI-generated content posted on social media platforms. Moreover, the platform is also under scrutiny in Texas over youth data security concerns.
