Adobe Photoshop app launches for iOS; Coming to Android later in 2025

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing programs across the globe. So far, its impressive image editing tools have only been available on laptops or desktop workstations. However, Adobe has finally launched the Photoshop application in Apple’s App Store for iPhones. As for Android devices, the company will launch the Adobe Photoshop app for Google’s platform at some point later in 2025.

Adobe Photoshop app features for mobile devices

According to Adobe, the Photoshop app for iOS is “a brand-new, free mobile image editing and design app that delivers the magic that people know Photoshop for, featuring a reimagined interface optimized for phones.” Mobile creators can add, remove, adjust, and combine content using the new app. They can also use a vast library of free Adobe Stock assets to make rich, impressive visuals, without compromising on precision or resolution.

The mobile version of Photoshop seems to be roughly on par with its iPad counterpart, which has been available for more than five years. The Photoshop app for iOS offers key features like layers, blending modes, adjustment layers, and masks. Other standard tools are also available, like the Spot Healing Brush, Clone Stamp, and typography tools.

While full feature parity isn’t possible, the iOS app has full support for Adobe’s PSD format. This means that the mobile app should be able to open any file created on desktop (and vice versa). Furthermore, it also includes integrations for Adobe Express, Fresco, and Lightroom so they can fit into a multi-application workflow. Adobe has also included many generative AI tools in the app, powered by Adobe Firefly.

Once the rollout for Apple iPhones goes smoothly, Adobe will launch the Photoshop app for Android devices later in 2025 with all the aforementioned features.

Not all the Adobe Photoshop features are free in the mobile app

It’s worth mentioning that the Adobe Photoshop app for iOS is only offering a few features for free for all iPhone users. In the free version of the app, you can access many essential tools like the Spot Healing Brush, Tap Select, layers, and masks, apart from the Adobe Stock assets. In addition, the free version can connect with other Creative Cloud services, and offer Firefly AI features.

However, if you want to access more advanced features like Object Select, Magic Wand, and Content-Aware Fill, you need a premium subscription. The paid plan for the app is available for $7.99 per month or $69.99 per year.

Notably, the premium subscription also unlocks tools like advanced blending options and access to Photoshop on the web. If you already have a Photoshop paid plan for desktop, you can access all the premium features on mobile for free.
