Now that the tech world has washed its hands of the Galaxy S25 series, it’s time to turn our attention to Samsung’s next big release. We’re talking about the company’s upcoming foldable phones. Even though details are scarce, it seems that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will bring improvements but not for the battery.
When it comes to battery life on Samsung’s foldable phones, there aren’t many complaints. Thanks to the company’s battery optimizations, it’s able to squeeze out about as much mileage as other foldables with larger batteries. However, it still puzzles us that Samsung hasn’t opted to include a bigger battery to easily blow past the competition. In any case, we’re sure that the battery life on the new line of foldables will be just fine.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 may not have a bigger battery
When a new phone comes out from a company, we’d typically expect it to bring some notable improvements to justify the upgrade. While this is true, it’s becoming less true for Samsung. The company has developed a reputation as a brand that repackages the same phone year after year. If that sounds familiar, congratulations, you’ve heard of Apple!
However, thanks to a new report, it seems that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might actually give the people what they’ve been wanting for a few years now, CHANGE. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 was basically a Galaxy Z Fold 5 with more AI, which was itself a rebranded Galaxy Z Fold 4. This is one reason why its latest foldable phones bombed.
So, as a result, it looks like Samsung has finally gotten the message and brought some actual change to its foldable phone lineup. According to a Weibo post from Setsuna Digital, Samsung will bring some notable improvements across different aspects of the phone.
This “comprehensive upgrade” will include improvements to the screen, hinge, main camera, under-screen camera, internal structure, and water and dust resistance. These are all areas where the Galaxy Z Fold phones could definitely improve.
Improvements to the display can mean a lot of things, but we’re sure that it means that the company will finally decrease the crease. As for the camera, foldable phones have historically been settled with older camera hardware, so we’ll hopefully see a tangible improvement here. The other changes are welcome like the reintroduction of the under-display fingerprint camera, improvements to the water and dust resistance, and the internal structure improvements.
But, something’s missing
Unfortunately, Samsung will recycle the same battery it used in older foldable phones. This is sad to see, as we’ve seen some companies put insanely large batteries in their foldable phones. This solved one of the biggest issues with early foldable phones, poor battery life.
However, if Samsung can master how to craft a foldable phone, it should be able to stick them with bigger batteries. Let’s just hope that all of the other upgrades will make this phone worth it.
