Disney+ users will get small samples of ESPN's SportsCenter

For years, sports have been a bit of an anomaly among streaming services/cable packages/satellite TV. Companies typically dangle them in front of users’ eyes and charge them extra to watch them. This is why we’d typically see Sports packages with services. Disney+ is different, as the streaming service will stream small samples of ESPN’s SportsCenter for its users.

Much of the time, sports aren’t added to streaming services, which is pretty frustrating. This is because users are always at risk of losing access to them or being charged extra. This is what almost happened with Max. The company announced back in 2023 that it was going to charge extra for sports. Thankfully, Max canceled its plans to do that.

Disney+ will give users a small sample of ESPN’s SportsCenter

Disney gives users access to sports content through the ESPN tile. However, if you’re not a huge sports fan, or if you just want a quick recap of the events of the day, then this news might be for you. According to a new report, Disney+ will start streaming hors d’euvre-sized bits of content from ESPN. These will be under the name SC+ (SportsCenter+).

Every day at 9AM ET, viewers will get a quick rundown of the top and other notable moments from games. These will be in a top-10 format, and they’ll run for 15 minutes. You’ll get “Today’s top sports moments, exclusive insights from ESPN’s top insiders and reporters, and SportCenter’s top-10 plays in a way you’ve never seen before.” You’ll also see them in 4K. If you’re a fan of Randy Scott and Gary Striewski, then you’ll want to watch during weekdays. Hannah Storm and Jay Harris will host the show during weekends.

This is a great way to get a nice taste of sports action without needing to dive into all of the content. If you’re excited for this, mark your calendars for Monday, March 3rd.
