OnePlus Watch 3 will be perfect for those with battery anxiety

Smartwatches come with a ton of helpful health and fitness-related tools. The main problem is battery life. However, if you’re looking for a smartwatch that boasts incredible battery life, the upcoming OnePlus Watch 3 could be the perfect one.

Incredible battery life

In an exclusive interview with TechRadar, Celina Shi, Chief Marketing Officer for OnePlus Europe, revealed some interesting features of the upcoming smartwatch. According to Shi, one of the standout features of the OnePlus Watch 3 is its battery life. The built-in battery has a capacity of 631 mAh, providing up to 120 hours of use.

This means that users can squeeze about a week’s worth of use before it needs to charge again. OnePlus states that the smartwatch achieves impressive battery life by utilizing dual chipsets. It combines the Snapdragon W5 SoC for Wear OS, with RTOS as a secondary system powered by a dedicated low-power BES2800 MCU chip. This enables the smartwatch to transition between high-power and low-power modes as required.

It also uses the OnePlus Silicon NanoStack Battery found in the OnePlus 13. That being said, as usual, battery life will vary from user to user. Some who use the smartwatch more might notice a faster drain than others. However, the 120-hour battery life is 20 hours higher than that of its predecessor, which is good.

Digital crown

One of the changes people can expect from the OnePlus Watch 3 is a new rotating digital crown. Users can press it to select items in the menu and twist it to scroll. We had heard rumors that this would be one of the new features, and this interview confirms it.

According to Shi, “We put much focus on design with the OnePlus Watch 2 and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. But we did hear calls from our community to develop the rotating crown to offer functionality and an alternative way to navigate the device.”

OnePlus also updated the design of the OnePlus Watch 3 over its predecessor. The OnePlus Watch 2 looked like a regular watch, but the newer version has a slightly more rugged look to it. This is in line with newer smartwatch designs, like the Apple Watch Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. It also boasts a new titanium bezel, an upgrade over the stainless-steel bezel from the OnePlus Watch 2.

OnePlus is announcing the OnePlus Watch 3 later this month (February 18).
