All these years, YouTube has tried walking in the footsteps of TikTok to capture the attention of viewers who like short video content. YouTube Shorts is one of the biggest examples of this. Now, it seems TikTok has decided to follow YouTube’s path, as the short-video platform has announced some handy features, including landscape mode for LIVE videos, for its web app.

TikTok web adds support for landscape videos, floating player, and more

For the uninitiated, TikTok isn’t only available as an app, there’s a web interface too, which is accessible at TikTok.com. As noted by TikTok in a blog post, the web app now has a bunch of new and useful features.

For starters, TikTok also picks the landscape video streaming from YouTube. Now, you can view LIVE gaming videos in landscape orientation. This feature is also coming to TikTok mobile.

Besides, landscape video support, the TikTok web app now has a floating video window similar to YouTube desktop. You can check the screenshot below. The only good difference is that TikTok’s floating window can be placed anywhere on the desktop.

The mini-player is currently only available when accessing TikTok web in the Chrome web browser. TikTok says that it has added an enhanced “modular layout” for distraction-free browsing. You’ll also find a new Collections feature that lets you save TikTok videos into different custom categories.

You can access all new features right away

Every new feature, including landscape videos, is now available on TikTok web. Therefore, we recommend checking all of them. Speaking of short-video content, Instagram is reportedly internally working to launch a separate Reels app that would be a direct rival to the TikTok mobile app. Not to forget, the U.S. President, Donald Trump, is actively looking for buyers for the short video-sharing platform to keep it running in the country.
