Last year, Truecaller partnered with The Harris Poll and published a report with findings of the Spam and Scam survey. The details published in the report were eye-opening, as it suggested that major smartphone carriers in the U.S., including Verizon, have been doing a terrible job of protecting customers from robocalls and scam calls.
Verizon isn’t helping its customers fight robocalls and scams associated with it
Per the report, last year, approximately 92% and 86% of Americans received spam calls and spam texts, respectively. That’s not all; more than 56 million Americans reportedly lost a total of $25.4 billion to robocall scams.
If you are a Verizon customer, you’d be surprised to know that, despite being one of the top U.S. carriers, it ranks 11 (out of 14) on PIRG’s report card for protection against robocall scams. The worst part is that half of the telecom companies in the U.S. received “D” or “F” grades when it comes to these protection services.
Verizon bags an embarrassing “F” grade for Services offered to combat robocall scams, with an Overall grade being “D.” Speaking of U.S. carriers, T-Mobile grabbed grade “C” for Services and an Overall “B” grade. This tells that the major U.S. smartphone carriers have failed to protect their customers from robocalls and spam texts.
Spectrum, AT&T, and Comcast Xfinity are doing good jobs, though
While Verizon is lagging, AT&T appears to be doing its best to protect customers from robocall scams. The telecom giant headquartered in Dallas, Texas managed to grab a solid “A” for Services and an Overall “B” grade.
AT&T ranks better than Verizon in third place, but below Comcast Xfinity (ranked second) and Spectrum (ranked first) for offering protection against robocalls and scam calls. Both Comcast Xfinity and Spectrum have grabbed an “A” grade for Services offered. They both bag an Overall “A” grade.
