Summary: Samsung has started pushing out the latest software update to Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra owners in the US. The update is over 900MB in size and addresses several bug fixes and security vulnerabilities for each device. And while the file size of the update is large, the changelog doesn’t mention any new features.

Samsung‘s Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are getting a software update in the US, bringing forth the March 2025 security patch for both devices and fixing several bugs and security vulnerabilities in the process.

Both Galaxy Watch devices have been around for nearly a whole year up to this point and have received their fair share of software updates. This latest update, which weighs in at around 900MB or more but less than 1GB, seems to mostly be about the security fixes as opposed to anything else. That is to say, it doesn’t appear as if there are any new features to speak of.

That seems interesting given that the update is almost up to 1GB in file size. Having said that, there were tons of security vulnerabilities that needed attention, and this update addresses a ton of them.

The latest US update for the Galaxy Watch 7 fixes some 58 security vulnerabilities

In terms of what this update actually does for the watch, it seems it’s just about security fixes and not much else. This also appears to be the same update that Samsung began rolling out to the device in other regions last week, but it’s finally reaching US models. If you haven’t powered on your Galaxy Watch 7 or Galaxy Watch Ultra in a little bit, or if you haven’t seen the update yet, give it some time.

The update should show up for you relatively soon. That being said, it’s highly likely that you may have already received the notification for the update by this point, and could have swiped it away. So, you can always manually check for updates to force the download.

It’s also worth noting that you’ll need to make sure your watch is connected to the internet for the update notification to come through. So, if it’s powered on but not connected to your phone or LTE, that’ll be your first step. Then it shouldn’t take long for the update to show up on its own. That’s assuming your watch was disconnected from the internet in the first place.

While the watch update seemingly doesn’t add anything exciting, it’s still necessary. You want your watch to be as secure as possible. Just like your phone and other connected devices.
