Summary: The April 2025 update for the Pixel Watch series is rolling out with bug fixes and performance improvements, bringing all models up to the same software version. While mostly a maintenance build, Pixel Watch 2 and 3 owners paired with the Pixel 9 series can enjoy a new scam detection feature that warns of suspicious calls.

If you own a Pixel Watch, the April 2025 update is finally here. Google is rolling it out for the original Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Pixel Watch 3. The Pixel Watch April 2025 update is based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15, but don’t expect any shiny new features. It’s mostly just a bug-fixing build.

Bug fixes

All six models are now running the same version, BP1A.250305.019.W7, cleaning up last month’s split rollout. While the Pixel Watch April 2025 changelog hasn’t gone live yet, Google previously promised to tackle notification delays and other lingering issues.

If the update hasn’t landed automatically, you can speed things up. Tap “Your watch is up to date” repeatedly in Settings > System > System updates to nudge it along. Better yet, disable Bluetooth temporarily to force a Wi-Fi download.

For the curious, OTA images are available, too, if you prefer the manual route.

Scam detection feature

At the moment, the update focuses mostly on bug fixes. However, this isn’t to say there aren’t any new features. As part of the April update, Google also introduced a new scam detection tool to the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3.

This is actually a pretty nifty feature. It can recognize suspicious activity and will notify users when a potential scam call is taking place. However, do keep in mind that this feature will only work if you own the Pixel 9 series. The Pixel Watch 2 and 3 will pair with the majority of Google’s Pixel phones.

However, if you want to access and take advantage of the new scam detection tool, it will only work with the Pixel 9 series. At least for now. It is a shame since it is pretty cool and potentially useful. We would have liked to see it arrive with support for more devices.
