Android 8.0 Oreo Information:
Android 8.0 Oreo was introduced in August 2017, and it's the 12th major iteration of Google's Android OS. Google actually talked about Android 8.0 Oreo earlier in 2017, though back then it was known as 'Android O', the OS itself was fully announced and released in August. Android 8.0 Oreo follows Android 1.6 Donut, 2.0 Eclair, 2.2 Froyo, 2.3 Gingerbread, 3.0 Honeycomb, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.1 JellyBean, 4.4 KitKat, 5.0 / 5.1 Lollipop, 6.0 Marshmallow and 7.0 Nougat. Android 8.0 Oreo does not bring a whole overhaul of the Android operating system, it's rather a refinement that Google decided to implement on top of Android 7.0 Nougat in order to make it even better than it was. Google paid special attention to battery consumption here, and the company even included some additional battery consumption features for users in order to prevent rogue apps to drain the battery in the background. In addition to that, some additional features were added, like the 'Picture-in-Picture' mode which lets you to play a video inside a small window which you can place anywhere on the screen, while you can perform whatever tasks you want in the meantime. The notification shade also received some new features, and so on, Google refined the OS in many ways.

Android 8.0 Oreo Editor Rating:
Android 8.0 Oreo is definitely not a huge step up from Android 7.0 Nougat, but it's an appreciated one. Refinements are always welcome, especially when it comes to the functionality of the OS itself, and some features like the Picture-in-Picture mode definitely help users be more productive with their devices. A complete overhaul of the OS was not needed this time around, and Google has opted to slightly redesign some aspects of Android, while the company definitely kept the core of it untouched, which is, in this case, not a bad thing at all.
