Edward Bonham Carter is stepping aside from his role as chief executive of the £30 billion fund manager Jupiter, becoming executive vice-chairman.
From next March he is handing over day-to-day management of the business to Maarten Slendebroek, 52, who joined Jupiter from Blackrock just over a year ago.
Bonham Carter, 53, the brother of actress Helena, joined Jupiter in 1994, became chief investment officer in 1999 and chief executive in 2007. He led the firmâs flotation in 2010 when the shares were priced at 165p. Today they were up 0.85p at 379.55p.
Jupiter said Bonham Carterâs new role would focus on âengaging with key stakeholdersâ.
JP Morgan analysts told clients: âWhile there may be some disappointment at his loss as CEO, this should be balanced by the value which he can continue to add to Jupiter in his new role.â
