'Tis the season to start spending some cash and these days it's not just smartphones that we're looking to buy but also tablets. In the last year or so, tablets have replaced a lot of laptops out there and some of us even swear by them. They now come in all sorts of different sizes and come with different features making the decision on what to buy a little difficult but here at Android Headlines we want to help so we're going to give you another one of our brilliant Buying Guides. This time around it's tablets, read on to find out the top 10 tablets that made our list!
10. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
When it comes to it, the successor to the original Galaxy Tab hasn't had that good a year and the Nexus 7 and other competition has made it look a little silly. However, there is still reason to buy the Tab 2 7.0 as there are a lot of accessories out there for the device and it makes it really easy to type on the go and of course, there's the added rear camera. It depends on what you're going to be doing with this though – if it's for note taking and browsing the web on the go then fine, this is a good tablet for that. If you're wanting to play games and watch HD movies on it, there are better options for that.

9. Toshiba Excite 10
It might not be the name you'd expect to be on your next tablet but Toshiba have made a good go with their Excite range. It's got the same Tegra 3 quad-core that's in most other tablets and the same 1280 x 800 display. This alone does not make a tablet great as these are ageing specs now but, there is some good design going on here and it's a solid offering if you're looking for a tablet that will do it all without pushing the boat too far out of the harbor.
8. ASUS Transformer TF300
The TF300 tablet came into the world as a sort of cut version of the Transformer Prime but it's become a little more than that. When ASUS set out to make the TF300 more affordable they didn't make too many cuts, there's still an IPS display and the Tegra 3 is still present as well. What is apparent however is that this Transformer is made of plastic and to be honest while this does leave a less premium feel to it there's the added benefit of working GPS and better WiFi range, problems that existed with the Prime.
7. Acer Iconia Tab A700
Acer haven't had it all too well in the Android tablet game, despite them trying. It's a real shame then that the A700 from earlier in the year got overlooked as it's packing a 1900 x 1200 panel which, while not coming close to the new Nexus 10's display, is still really quite good for a tablet. The Tegra 3 makes another appearance here but, is let down by Acer's poor build quality. It's not terrible but there are much better built tablets out there. Once again it's a shame that Acer have failed to strike the right balance. If you're looking to watch movies on this though, this will be great.
6. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
It's nothing really too new at this point for Samsung to release yet another tablet but this successor to the 10.1 of last year doesn't change too much either. There are some changes in the hardware design and a new version of TouchWiz. Realistically, this is a run of the mill Android tablet with a colorful display. What makes this a little sweeter is that you can get it on AT&T or Sprint with LTE making this a lot easier to take around with you if you have good coverage where you live then this would make a great tablet for the coffee shop or to keep in the car.
5. ASUS Transformer TF700
When it comes to tablets, it's clear that ASUS know what they're doing and with their latest in the Android Transformer line they've certainly shown that they know what they're doing. With the keyboard dock making a much welcome return and a premium build quality to boot there's a lot to love here. Especially that stunning IPS display at 1900 x 1200 and again, the Tegra 3 quad-core running the show. this is perhaps the perfect all-rounder, you can get work done on it and it handles games and full HD movies brilliantly.
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Samsung have done well building a successful brand around their Note line and with their first tablet entry into to it they've made another good product around the S-Pen input technology. There's a lot to love about this latest tablet from Samsung and if you use your tablet for referencing and work this is going to really help. The suite of apps Samsung throw in there make for a compelling purchase.
3. Amazon Kindle Fire HD
There a smattering of options this year from Amazon and the two new Fire HD tablets offer good alternatives if you don't need anything from the Google side of the things. There's a 7" and a larger 8.9" version. Both havd HD displays and access to all of Amazon's digital wares, making them perfect for films, books and the like. You can also access a tonne of apps through their App Store but, if you lean heavily on Google services give these a miss. They might be Android but it's name alone.
2.Asus Google Nexus 7
The venerable Nexus 7 has only been around for a few months but it already feels like a faithful old friend. You know what you're getting when you go with a Nexus device, up-to-date all the time and quality stock Android. The idea with the Nexus 7 is to deliver a tablet with which you can enjoy all that the Play Store has to offer and they've certainly done that. It's super affordable and well worth a buy for a member of the family.
1. Samsung Google Nexus 10
Google have again partnered with Samsung, this time around to bring an absolutely stunning Android tablet to the table. If you know someone that bought the Moto XOOM when that was out they're going to love this. With a stellar 2560 x 1600 display that bests the iPad's retina display nothing comes close to this display, it's absolutely brilliant. There's so much on offer as well, with some great accessories on their way and a good build quality this is the Android tablet to beat. It's also pretty cheap for what it is.
