The controversy over this yearâs Oscars continues, with the Academy Awards being accused of not reflecting diversity.
While many have held NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton up as an example of a film that was overlooked, it seems the groupâs legendary rapper and film star Ice Cube isnât too upset.
Speaking on the Graham Norton Show, Cube addressed the controversy and said that the film was âfor the fansâ.
âIf the industry gives you a trophy or a pat on the back itâs nice but itâs not something you should dwell on,â he said. âIt might sting at first when you donât win but let it go and move on, keep making great films and keep making the people happy.
âWe got accolades from all levels, from our core fans, from curious fans and from people that didnât even think they wanted to see that movie. We got so much praise for the movie so how could we be mad that one academy or guild or anybody says it isnât the number one.
âItâs like crying about not enough icing on your cake. Itâs ridiculous.â
The star appeared alongside his Ride Along 2 co-star Kevin Hart, as well as British institutions Olivia Colman, Hugh Laurie and Sir David Attenborough.
