The People vs OJ Simpson: viewers hit out at ‘cringeworthy’ and ‘distateful’ young Kardashian scene in American Crime Story

With impressive performances and a relatively accurate portrayal of events, American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson has got everyone hooked.

The glossy US drama retells the events of the infamous court case in which American footballer OJ Simpson was accused of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.

While the show has proved compelling so far, a scene in Episode 2 starring the young Kardashian children has seen a backlash from viewers.

The celebrity family play a significant role in the series in the form of father Robert Kardashian, OJ’s long-time friend and lawyer who went on to represent him.

While Robert, played by Friends actor David Schwimmer, plays a major part, some have questioned scenes that involve a young Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney.

In Episode 2, the children were seen spelling out their name and chanting ‘KARDASHIAN’ when they saw their father on the TV.

The children’s appearance was labelled ‘cringe’ and ‘distateful’ by viewers.

Others have generally questioned the ‘bizarre’ portrayal of the young family members, and questioned their ‘relevance’ to the story.

Despite the strange scene with the Kardashians, the series has proved compelling so far – and as the ‘trial of the century’ looms, it probably won’t be enough to put us off watching it.
