Tom Hanks has revealed he was found Clint Eastwood âintimidatingâ on his new film.
The Hollywood actor is soon to be seen in Eastwoodâs new film Sully â the true story of pilot Chesley âSullyâ Sullenberger, who performed an emergency landing in New Yorkâs Hudson River.
Talking to Graham Norton, Hanks spoke about Eastwoodâs directing style.
âHe treats his actors like horses because when he did the Sixties series Rawhide, the director would shout âactionâ and all the horses bolted,â he said.

âSo when [Eastwood]âs in charge he says in a really quiet soft voice, âall right, go ahead.â And instead of shouting âcutâ, he says âthatâs enough of that.â
âItâs intimidating as hell!â
It turns out the real Sullenberger was also an interesting person to work with on the film.
âSully was very particular about how we portrayed the procedure and the emotions,â Hanks said.
âHe pulled out this dog-eared, stapled and notated script that he had read. Post-its, stapled index cards all over it â Iâm sure his wife had even written ânoâ across it in lipstick.
âWe went through every page and every moment, every beat had been commented on. He had opinions!â
Also appearing on Nortonâs red sofa are Gemma Arterton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mo Farah and Olly Murs.
