Bermondsey Spa used to be the wrong side of the tracks but design creep from Borough Market and Shad Thames is bringing this off-pitch location in from the cold.

The neighbourhood, in the prized SE1 post code, dates back to 1830 when philanthropist Thomas Keyse created a spa on what was meadows.

In Victorian times it became a centre for the leather trade. Once-derelict railway arches are now home to microbreweries and gourmet food outlets. Buyers are waking up and smelling the coffee.

Skyline@Corio, in Grange Walk, is a clean-cut scheme of 167 flats on the site of a former tannery that made Royal Maundy purses and government Despatch Boxes.

The building’s warm brick façade evokes the area’s traditional warehouses, while flats have generous-sized recessed balconies overlooking ornamental gardens.

Upper level three-bedroom apartments have been released priced from £899,950.
