How to use Gemini Live on Google Pixel 9

With the Google Pixel 9, the search company spent a lot of time talking about AI—specifically Gemini. However, many of the new features, including Gemini Live, were already announced at Google I/O earlier in the year. This is a feature that allows you to have an entire conversation with Gemini. And it’ll provide a natural language experience, so you can talk to Gemini Live like it’s your friend. You can interrupt it, change the subject, and much more. It’s actually quite impressive.

However, there is a downside, and that is that you need to subscribe to Gemini Advanced. This is part of the $20/month Google One package, which also includes 2TB of storage. Luckily, Google is giving all Pixel 9 owners a year of Gemini Advanced for free with their purchase. But Gemini Live is not exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, so here’s how you can use Gemini Live.

How to use Gemini Live

To get started, press and hold the side button to Open Gemini. You can also simply open the Gemini app from your app drawer.

Now, in the lower-right-hand corner, there is a new icon that looks like an audio waveform with the AI star logo that everyone’s using. Tap on that.

From there, Gemini Live will be activated. On your first run of Gemini Live, it’ll give you some information about Gemini Live and let you choose your voice. There are ten voices available.

Now you can just talk to Gemini Live. Once you’re finished, tap on the End button. Then, the entire conversation will appear in the text-based portion of the Gemini app. So you can go back and see what Gemini said to you.

Gemini Live is quite impressive; even when you interrupt it, it still provides the information you want. Give it a try.
