Boxing Day Tube strike gets go-ahead

The Tube will suffer major disruption on Boxing Day after a High Court judge ruled a 24-hour strike by train drivers could go ahead.

London Underground bosses failed in their bid to have the strike by the Aslef union declared illegal. LU said it would run "as many services as possible" on Boxing Day but some lines would be partly closed.

Mike Brown, LU managing director, described the strike — called after he turned down demands for three days' pay and a day off in lieu for working on Boxing Day — as "beyond belief".
