Iranian diplomat freed after 16 months

An Iranian diplomat taken hostage in Pakistan has been rescued, according to Iranian sources.

Gunmen seized Heshmatollah Attarzadeh in Peshawar in November 2008.

He is reported to have been freed by Iranian agents "in a complicated intelligence operation".
