Pistol teacher to appeal over sacking

A teacher jailed for firing an air pistol after confronting "yobs" at her home is to appeal against being sacked.
Linda Walker, 48, lost her £30,000-a-year post after a five-hour disciplinary hearing in Salford, Manchester.
The mother of two, who taught children with behavioural problems, was freed after 36 days of a six-month sentence for affray and intent to cause fear with a firearm.
Her job appeal will be heard by the school's governors in Eccles.
