The two-time Wimbledon champion said on June 27 that if was able to play at Wimbledon -- as he has did on Thursday -- then he would likely retire after the Paris Olympics. Murray faced a race against time to be fit to play in his final tournament at the All England Club after undergoing a procedure to address a spinal cyst on June 22. He subsequently withdrew from his first-round singles match on Tuesday, but confirmed that he would play in the men's doubles. However, the 37-year-old's Wimbledon farewell got off to a difficult start on Thursday as he was knocked out of the men's doubles in the first round alongside his older brother, Jamie, with a 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss to Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers. Speaking after the match, Murray discussed coming to terms with the end of his playing career. "I would love to keep playing, but I can't physically. It is too tough now. All of the injuries, they've added up. ... They haven't been insignificant. But yeah, I want to play forever," Murray told the BBC. "I love the sport. It's given me so much, taught me loads of lessons over the years that I can use for the rest of my life. But yeah, I don't want to stop, so it is hard." Murray also hinted that he might be interested in taking up coaching in his post-playing career. Asked if he was a good tennis watcher, Murray said: "It depends who I'm watching. I hate watching my brother. I find it really difficult to watch my brother play. But yeah, I love tennis. I watch it all the time. I'd probably be more comfortable sitting up there in a coaching box than somewhere else." Murray is due to take to the court again this week after Wimbledon organisers announced on Wednesday that he had entered the mixed doubles draw alongside fellow Brit Emma Raducanu after the pair were given a wild-card entry. The mixed doubles competition begins on Friday. 2bbe995dd1f4f493e68204ae2e723cfb CW BOTY2024 Xquisite Sport Cat30 0023 Edit 500a4413a2a281bc63b546157dd959cb.webp Pngtree Happy New Year 2024 Golden 3d Numbers With Luxury Text Png Image 8997514 Maxresdefault Rowboat M3 Maxresdefault Maxresdefault UPY 2024 101AlexDawson 585caf6380495a143fffd9045d47ad0d Fcaebf D34071c375a54add810dd2b437aa8607~mv2 Happy New Year 2024 Rock In The Water With A Boat In The Background For Editing Ts6iuegoki 2024 Plans #198 7a811156e9422772a74584ea7b87a97c Happy New Year 2024 Boat Hd Cb Background Ievxbeos1f Boat Floating 4421582 Happy New Year 2024 Body Of Water Sea Editing Background Ont9zrkoly 5b341995e066e414100c7e073975d6e9 8885597 20230531144951615 1 XLARGE 2024 Yamaha Boats 252 SD Jet Boat BKFMsiq8g7l1 7d5ee1d56630c559e5b9cb20c9a668a4 9a84caf8d6b9a1f0fa85cf05654469b2 Icon Of The Seas Sunset Sailing 66119fa83cff97ec597bbedd998c81ea Tropics Island Yacht White 482213.64ed948393836c6083c5470b.xl.7e3913677d3e4c42aa43834eb6450ca5 Pngtree Happy New Year 2024 Golden 3d Numbers With Luxury Text Png Image 7097602 The Concept Of Plans For 2024 A Wave Of Water Washes Away The Figure 2024 On The Sand On The Seashore Or Ocean Year 2024 Handwriting On Sand Beach S 2P0EWTY 2018 12 08 16 21 28 1200x801 Boat On Water Comps Beta Designs 03 980x980 Fdfdb7e2beab21f8c77cd33690c4c877
