The sharply hit foul ball took one hop and reached Snitker so quickly in the fifth inning he didn't have time to defend himself. But even in the moment, the 68-year-old manager smiled instead of showing any hint of pain. And, to answer the obvious question, Snitker doesn't wear a protective cup. "Without protection? Yeah, I know," Snitker said, adding he had received multiple text messages about the incident and how he smiled instead of bending over in pain. "Well, it hit me right below the belt," he said. "... OK, a little high." Snitker said he wasn't sore when he woke up Thursday but acknowledged he "tensed up" and felt some discomfort during the game. He was able to smile because the ball barely missed hitting him in a more sensitive area. Snitker said he intentionally avoided TV Thursday morning "because I said I'm not going to watch this thing." Snitker's son, Troy, who's on the Houston Astros' coaching staff, made sure the replay made it to his father. "My son sent me a video of it," Snitker said before Thursday night's game against the Giants. Albies' at-bat ended with a fly ball to center field. The Braves second baseman immediately walked up to Snitker when returning to the dugout. "He felt worse than me," Snitker said. "He's such a good kid." Snitker was a longtime third-base coach before becoming Atlanta's manager in 2016 and leading the Braves to six consecutive NL East championships and the 2021 World Series title. The third-base coaching box can also be a dangerous place, and Snitker said he suffered a broken wrist and other injuries when hit by foul balls there. Snitker said he had another reason to smile immediately after avoiding injury on Wednesday night. Braves first baseman Matt Olson told Snitker he likely would have been hit by the foul ball if Snitker, standing on the dugout steps, had not been in the way. "So I said, 'Well, I'm a hell of a lot easier to replace than he is,'" Snitker said. "So I'm glad it hit me." 4e4e1f2a 69c1 4c7b A2de Cc302459221f Lafayette High School Building 4455 ?crop=2999,1687,x0,y153&width=2999&height=1687&format=pjpg&auto=webp 2097152 5e1761ff31af2.image ?crop=1861%2C977%2C130%2C0&resize=1200%2C630&order=crop%2Cresize AA1khRy2.img?w=1024&h=576&m=4&q=74 Lafccvoting1 ?width=2400&height=1350&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp 635836173695229227 0502Faulk006.JPG?width=2845&height=1607&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp US School7029 Output GLjYeiWFReUQXqXaK7iCSZJ6gvPeVSH32Ptyul6C IMG 9189 Scaled Election Voting 6854 ?resize=1024,681 28093599 Web1 SchoolLevy FWM 220211 Tsr 1 36523d28 83d3 4cfd B090 E73a9181c83c First.day.of.school.lafayette.parish 15 13 ?crop=1332,749,x1,y78&width=1332&height=749&format=pjpg&auto=webp 2b6d97a0 67d6 4ae0 8a1c 08d9cdb74852 200616 NF Schools 02.JPG Beae2ed3 6cb8 4854 Af32 A8cbe8464556 201103 NF Election 15.JPG?width=660&height=440&fit=crop&format=pjpg&auto=webp 90bdb3c6 7c07 4b41 8c34 E32f80056b78 NP1 1466 ?crop=4597,2586,x0,y300&width=3200&height=1801&format=pjpg&auto=webp ?media Id=691231379840626 512 Dehlerpr Westlafayette 66percent Vlcsnap 2022 08 20 18h53m07s959 ?ve=1&tl=1 63582a0c759af.image ?resize=400%2C310 6eb5dc8f 57e3 4572 9f5e 5a75418cc44f 190410 NF Walk Ins 07.JPG?crop=5759,3226,x0,y344&width=3200&height=1793&format=pjpg&auto=webp Maxresdefault 57aa9755 34de 4e7a A1b3 5160011a5155 68.JPG?crop=3987,2243,x0,y154&width=3200&height=1801&format=pjpg&auto=webp Ed82b642 F8dc 4353 827f 57c086a69213 072822Itsrainingcrayons01.JPG?crop=2534 MWMMCOQGDBEIXLSUDW6HR3CNO4.JPG?auth=a5e1c09437e997573e5bcb304b1d86bb7c760ec1162caafb4dc092a20dce29c4&width=500&quality=90 Pageonechart ?1694899494 Screen Shot 2022 02 14 At 6.22.52 PM 1200x1019 CFA 4 Screen Shot E1667396062457 277836195 357125363016832 5696716054029810162 N 64f10d98a3dd2.image ?crop=1427%2C749%2C17%2C43&resize=1200%2C630&order=crop%2Cresize 9f521f01 0b23 48bb Bc32 0f9ff2dceb7e 3588x2780 FKt02wmXoAUWSvZ ?w=1024 1058b777 20e9 4107 B3f4 Bf686957a63a FINALS 5 ?crop=960 64b714d3f3cee.image ?crop=1920%2C1008%2C0%2C35&resize=1200%2C630&order=crop%2Cresize Band2 Orig
