Elon Musk may be father to as many as fourteen children, but few of them are old enough to shed any light on what it’s like being the offspring of the world’s richest man.

That is, except for Vivian Jenna Wilson, Musk’s estranged teenage daughter, who is openly critical of her father and recently described him as a “pathetic man child” in the pages of Teen Vogue.

Wilson is the child of Elon Musk and the Tesla CEO’s first wife, Canadian author Justine Musk. She was conceived via in vitro fertilisation and was born in 2004 as a twin.

Wilson, who is transgender, has claimed that her father used sex-selective IVF to ensure she would be a boy, though she now identifies as a woman. Wilson has four full siblings, including her twin brother, Griffin, and three younger brothers who are triplets: Kai, Saxon, and Damian.

Justine Musk and Elon Musk divorced in 2008, agreeing to share custody of Wilson and her other siblings. Vivian Wilson grew up in Los Angeles and attended the private prep school Crossroads School in Santa Monica. Crossroads counts Gwyneth Paltrow, Jack Black, Zooey Deschanel, Kate Hudson, Jonah Hill and Maya Rudolph among its notable alumni.

In her Teen Vogue interview, the 21-year-old shared how growing up as a wealthy child in Los Angeles made her uncomfortable from a young age. “You start to wonder, How is this fair?” she told the publication in March 2025. “You have to inevitably come to the conclusion it's not. There is no world in which people should be owning multiple private planes, private islands, private whatever, while other people are sleeping on the street.”

Musk is currently studying abroad in Tokyo. According to the Teen Vogue interview, she has studied French, Spanish, and Japanese and at one point hoped to become a translator.

In the interview, she took aim at Elon Musk, from whom she has been financially independent since 2020 when she came out as trans.

When asked if she is scared of her father, who is the world’s richest man, she said: “He's a pathetic man-child. Why would I feel scared of him? Ohhh, he has so much power. Nah, nah, nah. I don't give a f**k. Why should I be scared of this man? Because he's rich? Oh, no, I'm trembling. Ooh, shivering in my boots here. I don't give a f**k how much money anyone has. I don't. I really don't. He owns Twitter. Okay. Congratulations.”

“People thrive off of fear. I'm not giving anyone that space in my mind. The only thing that gets to live free in my mind are drag queens.”

Speaking of drag queens, Vivian Wilson also detailed how she found out she had a new sibling via The RuPaul’s Drag Race subreddit. “Tatianna from RuPaul's Drag Race Season 2 and RuPaul's Drag Race: All-Stars 2 tweeted, ‘[Not] Grimes popp[in] out another axolotl,’ which made the front page of the RuPaul's Drag Race subreddit, which is how I found out about it.”

Wilson added that she found out about Musk’s reported child with MAGA influencer Ashley St. Clair in the same way, saying: “If I had a nickel for every time I found out I had half-siblings through Reddit, I’d have two nickels.”

Elon Musk disowned Vivian when she came out as trans. In a 2024 interview with manosphere influencer Jordan Peterson, Musk repeatedly deadnamed her (called her by her birthname from before she transitioned) and claimed she was “killed by the woke mind virus.”

Vivian told Teen Vogue this moment was actually “cathartic” because she was finally able to speak out against Musk after so long holding in “pent up energy”.

She also addressed Musk’s controversial salute moment from Trump’s inauguration, saying: “The Nazi salute s*** was insane. Honey, we're going to call a fig a fig, and we're going to call a Nazi salute what it was. That s*** was definitely a Nazi salute. The crowd is equally to blame, and I feel like people are not talking about that. That crowd should be denounced.”

Speaking of Elon Musk’s political views, Vivian said: “It's such a convenient narrative, that the reason he turned right is because I'm a f***ing tr*nny, and that's just not the case. That's not what that does to people. Him going further on the right, and I'm going to use the word “further” — make sure you put “further” in there — is not because of me. That's insane.”

The 20-year-old also discussed her love of reality TV, the fight for trans rights, and her obsession with drag queens. On Musk, she concluded: “I haven't talked to him since 2020. That was almost half a decade ago at this point. Thank God.”
