He has dressed stars including Keira Knightley, Natalie Portman and Kate Bosworth, and now Erdem Moralioglu has designs on the Royal Ballet.

The east London-based designer, whose clothes have been worn by the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle, will work with choreographer Christopher Wheeldon on a new one-act ballet paying tribute to composer Leonard Bernstein.

Writer and ceramicist Edmund de Waal, author of best-selling memoir The Hare With Amber Eyes, will team up with Wayne McGregor for another one-act performance as part of a tribute to Bernstein, whose work included classical symphonies as well as the music to stage hits such as West Side Story.

Other events include a new production of Swan Lake and a collaboration with four other ballet companies to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of its artistic director Kenneth MacMillan.
