Child snatcher arrested after absconding from mental health unit

A child snatcher who absconded from a psychiatric unit in east London has been arrested.

Shane Hart, 54, was on escorted leave from the John Howard Centre in Homerton when he escaped on Wednesday afternoon.

An appeal was launched yesterday to find him and he was arrested in the early hours of this morning in Hertfordshire.

Hart was placed in the centre following a conviction in 1994 for false imprisonment and taking a child without lawful authority.

He previously went missing while on a trip to a shopping centre in 2009.
