

A train passenger who launched a “hate-fuelled” tirade of racist abuse against a woman for wearing a headscarf has been fined £1,500.
Lee Moss, 31, started to verbally abuse the woman during his train journey toIlfordafter boarding at Stratford station on July 14 last year.
As the abuse continued, shocked passengers on the Liverpool Street toShenfieldservice called the police, who were able to identify and arrest him.
Moss, ofMendipRoad, Havering, was handed a £1,500 fine atHighburyCorner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 4.
He had earlier been found guilty of one charge under the Crime and Disorder Act and one charge under the Public Order Act.
Investigating officer PC StuartMorishita-Dubois, from British Transport Police,said: “Moss’s behaviour was utterly disgusting.
“He targeted this woman because of her ethnicity. His hate-fuelled abuse was threatening and an extremely unpleasant experience for all passengers who were on board.
“It is never ok to be targeted because of who you are or because you may be different.”
