A “vibrant” mother-of-five has been killed in a horrific hit-and-run outside a pub in West Yorkshire.

Sue Davis, 50, died after she was hit by a Mazda 5 outside the Flying Pig in Halifax just after 1am on Tuesday.

The car did not stop at the scene, but instead kept travelling along Crag Lane towards the town centre after the crash.

West Yorkshire Police said two teenage boys were later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The pair, aged 15 and 18, have now been bailed pending further enquiries by the force’s Major Collision Enquiry Team.

In an emotional tribute to their mother following her death, Ms Davis's family said in a statement: “Sue was a great, vibrant character. There was never a dull moment with her.”

They added: “She was a mother-of-five and was well-known within her community. She will be sadly missed.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward, or anyone who saw the movements of the vehicle immediately prior to it.”
