Two women arrested at Heathrow on suspicion of terrorism crimes

Two women have been arrested today on suspicion of terrorism offences, police said.

Officers stopped a 26-year-old woman as she tried to board a flight to Istanbul, Turkey at Heathrow Airport at 9.20am this morning.

They seized a large quantity of cash and arrested her under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

At about 2.25pm they also arrested a 27-year-old woman at an address in north west London.

Both women are now in custody at London police stations.

Detectives are currently searching two addresses in north and north west London for evidence.
