
Trains travelling to and from London Liverpool Street faced delays on Thursday after a person tragically died on the tracks.
Transport police confirmed that officers were called to the line near Walthamstow this morning following reports of a person on the tracks.
“Officers were called to an area of the line in Walthamstow this morning (Thursday) shortly before 7am following reports of a casualty on the tracks,” a spokesperson told The London Standard.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”
This morning’s emergency incident impacted Greater Anglia routes, London Overground trains and the Stansted Express. National Rail has confirmed that lines are now open, but some delays may continue.
Elsewhere, commuters relying on the Piccadilly line faced delays on Thursday morning due to a faulty track, while the Metropolitan line was also suspended due to repair works.

Elizabeth line part suspended
Parts of the Elizabeth line have been suspended this afternoon due to trespassers on the track.
According to TfL, there is currently no service between Maidenhead and Reading, but there is good service on the rest of the line.
There are also minor delays across the Piccadilly, Metropolitan, and Northern lines this afternoon.
These delays stem from earlier technical issues on the Underground lines, including a faulty train and signal failure.
Queuing traffic near Herne Hill
A vehicle crash on Coldharbour Lane is leading to queueing traffic in both directions near Herne Hill.
A detour is currently in place for a number of bus routes, including: P4, 35, 45, 345.
Some disruption around Parliament Square
Some minor travel disruption is being reported around Parliament Square this afternoon due to tractors parked opposite Parliament.
According to INRIX, there is some “congestion to all approaches, tailing back up Whitehall, and back onto Westminster Bridge and Victoria Embankment.”
“There doesn't appear to be a scheduled protest today.”
London Liverpool Street lines open but some delays continue
According to National Rail, there are still some minor delays to trains travelling in and out of London Liverpool Street.
This may continue until around 1:30pm.
The latest update reads: “Lines have reopened following the emergency services dealing with an earlier incident between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt. Trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or diverted.”
Minor delays on the Northern line
TfL is reporting minor delays on the Northern line this afternoon due to a faulty train.
Elsewhere on the London Underground, there are ongoing delays on the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines.

M25 crash leads to queueing traffic
A crash on the M25 north of Barnet has led to delays and queueing traffic near South Mimms.
According to INRIX, the motorway is partially blocked anticlockwise between J23 and J24.
Only one lane is curently passing the incident, and exit lanes are blocked.
Delays continue on Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines
Delays to the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines have continued into the afternoon due to faults reported earlier today.
Although the backup has eased on the Piccadilly line, there are still minor delays for trains around Acton, Uxbridge, and Heathrow Airport. There is now a good service on the rest of the line.
Meanwhile, over on the Metropolitan line, there are severe delays and no Northbound service due to a signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.
Road delays around central London
According to TfL, some severe delays are being reported on roads in Westminster and in Kensington & Chelsea.
Around Westminster, work on the Piccadilly Underpass is leading to traffic backing up in both directions.
In Kensington & Chelsea, there are delays on all approaches to Cromwell Road, with eastbound traffic tailing back to Warwick Road.
Work is expected to continue in both locations until March 18, so expect some delays to journeys over the next few days.

Greater Anglia have released a statement on social media, confirming that lines have re-opened but some delays may still continue until around 12pm.
