London’s gloriously sunny start to April looks set to continue for a good few days yet.
The capital, like much of the rest of the UK, enjoyed a dry and often cloudless week.
Indeed, with parts of southern Europe hit by Storm Nuria, some British holidaymakers have been left wondering whether they’d have been better staying at home.
Temperatures on Friday reached as 23.7C in some parts of the UK, sending Britons racing to buy barbecue products on the warmest day of 2025.
That was hotter than the likes of Ibiza, Rhodes and Cyprus.
The Met Office is forecasting six days of unbroken sunshine for the capital through until Sunday, with temperatures steadily increasing to a predicted high of 23C on Friday and Saturday.
By contrast, Barcelona is expected to reach only 17C on Friday, with the temperature in Athens set to hit a maximum of 18C.
But what about the Easter bank holiday?
It looks like the settled conditions across the UK will be broken up next week, with rain and even thunder expected in some places.
The Met Office says: “A gradual change to a more unsettled weather regime is likely, with Atlantic frontal systems from the west or showers from the south making inroads across the UK.
“This is expected to herald a wetter period through the middle of April with showers or longer spells of rain at times, which could be heavy and thundery in places. Strong winds could develop in some areas, particularly the south and west.
“Temperatures are likely to return closer to normal.”
However, it seems things could then improve again for London, at least according to current forecasts.
BBC Weather is predicting rain in London on Sunday, with further wet weather on the way for most of the following week.

However, it is currently forecasting dry and sunny weather on Good Friday through to Easter Sunday, with daytime highs of 19C or 18C.
So it should be perfect weather for rolling those Easter eggs.
