Millions of people across the UK have cast their vote in the 2019 general election today, to decide the fate of the country.
Candidates from all parties, up and down the country, will be eagerly awaiting the results to see whether or not they have won their seat.

Votes are counted in two stages when polling stations close, a process which typically lasts until 2am.
According to the Electoral Commission, polling station staff must start counting ballots within four hours of the station closing.
What time will the exit polls be announced?
Exit polls are typically released when voting closes, which is at 10pm.
Since exit polls ask voters who they have voted for, they tend to predict who the country has voted for.
