Good Morning Britainâs Kate Garraway says her husband Derek Draper has been âdevastatedâ by Covid.
The 53-year-old former political adviser was in hospital for a year after being admitted with coronavirus symptoms and placed in a coma, but has now been reunited with Garraway and their children, Darcey and Billy, at their family home.
Garraway, 54, said they were only âa few weeks intoâ having him back and he currently needs 24-hour care following his year-long fight back to health.

She told BBC1âs The Andrew Marr Show he was a âlong wayâ from the man the BBC presenter had known, but he is âhome and he is aliveâ.
She said: âHe is devastated by Covid. He canât really move, his communication is very minimal.
âThere are moments when thereâs up, so therefore in those moments you feel you know heâs in there. He has a lot of memory but the accessing of it is very limited.â
During his illness, Garraway made an ITV documentary, called Finding Derek, exploring his illness and its effect on their two children.
One scene saw Garraway recall being told by Mr Draperâs doctors that he was the most seriously ill person they had seen who remained alive.
