James Cracknell claimed his ex-wife Beverley Turner âchipped away at his confidenceâ.
During Sundayâs Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, the rowing champion admitted he has âreally struggledâ following his brain injury when he was hit off his bike in Arizona in 2010.
Looking back - the sports star reflected on the difficult time he and his ex-wife faced in the wake of his injury when she was always at his side and nursed him back to health after he was left in a coma.
Also, Mr Cracknell hailed Ms Turner as an âamazing woman and an amazing motherâ.
He said on the show: âThe assumption of having had a serious brain injury is that that then defines the rest of my life and âyou wonât be able to do that, you wonât be able to do thisâ.
âMy wife, well now ex-wife - she is an amazing woman and an amazing mother - but she always viewed me through the prism of that incident.
âFor someone who you love unconditionally to chip away at your confidence and then me not to reach out to mates and hide away, youâre left thinking... the worst things about yourself. Iâve really struggled.â
It comes as Mr Cracknell married Jordan Connell, who is 14 years his junior, in late August this year and his ex-wife sent her congratulations on social media.
The rower had split from Ms Turner in March 2019 after the couple had been in love for 17 years.
They have three children together - Croyde, 17, and daughters Kiki, 12, and Trixie, 10.
Recently, Mr Cracknell said Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins made him question some of his life choices on reflection.
He told The Times: âHaving three kids and being divorced and not living with them... Thereâs things you go, like, âOK, actually, you prioritised working. Did you sacrifice too much time?â You know what I mean?â
