Where is JD Sports closing branches?

JD Sports will close 50 shops in the year ahead as part of a planned shake-up that will see 150 others open.

The leisurewear brand has confirmed 100 relocations and conversions as part of its changes.

The brand owns 4,800 stores across 36 countries and has 412 of those in the United Kingdom, having started trading in northern England in 1981.

The information was revealed in the company’s Q4 update on April 9, where it revealed the 50 closures “will mainly be in Eastern Europe”.

"We expect the trading environment in our key markets to be volatile throughout the year and we have started the year in line with our expectations,” reads its Q4 trading update.

It added: “We note the proposed changes to tariffs announced last week. At this stage, the outcome of these developments is uncertain.

"We are in regular dialogue with our brand partners but it is too early to comment on the potential sector impact."

According to the Sun, it has not been disclosed where the 50 branches will be closed and if any of these could be in the UK.

It has been said that they will likely be predominantly focused on Eastern Europe.

“We anticipate 150 new stores and 100 conversions/relocations in [FY26],” the statement read.

"There will also be 50 closures, mainly in Eastern Europe.”

According to the JD Sports website, the brand has more than 50 sites in London.
