Kylie Minogue reflected on being an accidental gay icon, saying she always wanted to appeal to âall walks of lifeâ and be âinclusiveâ with her music.
The singer, 53, was interviewed by Years & Years star Olly Alexander about her LGBTQ+ following after they recently released track A Second to Midnight together.
In the interview, Minogue said inclusivity for her was second nature.
She said: âI didnât set out to do that [be inclusive], it is just naturally how I feel. There is so much talk about inclusivity, and I felt I always had that from the beginning. I used to say, I loved to be able to look out at my shows, and there are just all walks of life. There has never been any judgment.â
Minogue also spoke about her early years in London when she was establishing herself as an artist.
She said of her time in the capital: âThat is when I got into club culture, and meeting designers â Iâd be up and down Kingâs Road because you didnât have stylists, you went and did everything yourself!â

They spoke ahead of the pairâs secret gig at The Trafalgar St James Hotel, which is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, which was one of a series of exclusive âSecret Socials with Hilton.
Alexander, who also starred in acclaimed drama Itâs a Sin, performed to 50 unsuspecting guests at the gig and Minogue joined him on stage for a performance of their duet.
âSurprising everyone on stage was so much fun. Weâve been planning it for a while and itâs been so hard to not tell anyone!â she said.
âThe venue was perfect for such an intimate gig and I loved the opportunity to connect up close and personal with fans. Itâs rare to share these moments and it was all the sweeter with the beautiful Olly Alexander.â
The interview took place at The Biltmore Mayfair.
