The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra launched as part of the Galaxy S23 series earlier today. This is the company’s most powerful smartphone to date, and one that we covered in the original launch. We are here to take an in-depth look at the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra specifications, though.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra does include more powerful specifications than its siblings
First and foremost, the Galaxy S23 Ultra does look different than the other two S23 phones. It is also the only one that includes a curved display, and the S Pen stylus. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is also the largest phone in the series, due to its large display.
Speaking of which, the Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inch QHD+ (3080 x 1440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Edge Screen. The Infinity-O stands for a centered display camera hole which is included here
This display does support an adaptive (1-120Hz) refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode. It offers a 500 ppi, and the display brightness goes all the way up to 1,750 nits at its peak. It is achievable through automatic brightness only, though. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this display, and we’re looking at a 19.3:9 aspect ratio here.
The phone is water and dust resistant, and it includes an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
Now, the phone is IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. On top of that, it is encased in “Armor Aluminum”, and features an in-display fingerprint scanner (an ultrasonic one). Facial scanning is also supported.
The phone is fueled by the “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”, and it comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The 8GB RAM model ships with 256GB of storage, while the 12GB RAM unit is available in both 512GB and 1TB flavors. The storage is not expandable, though.
A 5,000mAh battery is also included in the package. This phone supports 45W wired (65% in 30 minutes), 15W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging (Wireless PowerShare). Do note that the charging brick is not a part of the package.
A 200MP main camera is one of five cameras on the device
A 200-megapixel main camera (OIS, f/1.7 aperture, 85-degree FoV, Laser Auto Focus) sits on the back. A 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV) is also included, as is a 10-megapixel telephoto unit (OIS, f/2.4 aperture, 2PD, 3x optical zoom, 36-degree FoV). The fourth camera on the back is a periscope telephoto camera, a 10-megapixel unit (f/4.9, OIS, 2PD, 10x optical zoom, 11-degree FoV). The phone supports 8K recording at 30 fps, and 4K recording at 60 fps.
On the front side of this phone, you’ll find a 12-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture, 2PD autofocus, 80-degree FoV). That camera can record 4K video at 60 fps too.
Bluetooth 5.3 is supported, and Android 13 comes pre-installed
The phone does support 5G connectivity (sub6 / mmW) and has an embedded S Pen (bottom-right corner). Bluetooth 5.3 support is also included in the package. Android 13 comes pre-installed on the phone, with Samsung’s One UI skin.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra measures 163.3 x 78 x 8.9mm, while it weighs 233.9 grams. The phone comes in Cream, Green, Lavender, and Phantom Black colors. Some exclusive colors will be available via the Samsung Store, including Graphite, Lime, Sky Blue, and Red.
