Samsung is offering the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in three different colors this time around. And they are actually pretty tame. As we’ve seen from some other smartphone makers, it appears they all believe that those buying the most expensive phones, don’t care about colors.
Here on the Galaxy Z Fold 5, we have Icy Blue, Phantom Black and Cream. The Icy Blue color is more like a light gray color. Phantom Black is of course, a very deep black. It does look great, but it will also show a boat load of fingerprints. Finally, there’s cream. Which is more of an off-white color.
Samsung is selling a few other colors of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 on its website. Which include: Gray and Blue.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the thinnest fold yet
While the Galaxy Z Fold 5 might look very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from last year, it’s actually quite different. And it’s all thanks to the hinge. The hinge has been redesigned, and this is going to allow the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to fold completely flat. Something that no other Galaxy Z Fold model has been able to do.
This hinge is smaller, and allows the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to also be thinner compared to its predecessor. As well as being stronger and using less moving parts. That part is a pretty big deal, as there are now fewer points of failure here.
Another interesting change here is that the width of the S Pen has been shrunken down to about 41% smaller. This means that the S Pen case now fits flush with the camera bump, instead of jetting out for the S Pen like it does with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. This makes bringing along the S Pen a bit easier.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 go live today, and they’ll start arriving on August 11.
