Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus reveals he went on 'awful' date with Melissa Joan Hart

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has revealed he once took Melissa Joan Hart out on a disastrous dinner date.
The vocalist and bassist, 53, details the unsuccessful romantic encounter with the Sabrina The Teenage Witch actress in his upcoming autobiography Fahrenheit-182.
In an excerpt from the memoir shared with Entertainment Weekly, he explained how they first connected after meeting at the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards where she had her publicist reach out to his label’s publicist to exchange phone numbers. This then led to them going out for sushi together.
“It was an awful date. She was very nice, but we weren’t connecting,” reads Hoppus’ excerpt. “Everything in her life revolved around acting and it was hard to relate to her about anything else.”
He then went on to give examples, saying that he would ask Hart what she liked to eat and she responded by saying she ate whatever food had been catered while on set. He also asked her what she liked to read. She replied she mostly liked to read scripts.

Hoppus did not slam Hart for what she said, noting that from her perspective he likely related most topics to music. “We just weren’t a good match. It was tough,” he mused.
After dinner, they then drove to Hart’s home where she gave him the grand tour before he made his excuses about needing to get up early to be on set for a music video shoot the next day.
The Clarissa Explains It All and Melissa & Joey star then dropped him off at his hotel room.
All was not lost however as when he got there, he discovered he had a voicemail from Skye Everly who would go on to become his future wife.
Everly previously rejected Hoppus, but her voicemail told him to call her back. Once he did, the two of them talked all night.

They went on to marry in 2000 and share a son, Jack, who’s now 22.
Things worked out okay for Hart, 48, too, she married Mark Wilkerson in 2003. The couple share three sons together: Mason, 19, Braydon, 17, and Tucker, 12.
