Carey Mulligan at centre of star line-up for Baftas

Celebrity name cards have been placed on seats at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in readiness for the Baftas on Sunday.

Special guests: the preparations are being made for the celebrity arrivals

Among them is Carey Mulligan, a contender as leading actress for her role in An Education. The British star, 24, who has also been nominated for an Oscar, said: "It's wild. I never expected this. It's crazy."

She also revealed that she would love to meet Sir Paul McCartney as she and the former Beatle share a family bond. "His mum was a midwife and she delivered my dad," she said
