Ewan McGregor slammed for ‘caring more about sharks than his family’

Ewan McGregor has come under fire after he shared a video to raise awareness of a shark killing epidemic.

McGregor posted a clip on Instagram warning of the potential fallout if sharks were to go extinct and encouraging people to avoid using shark products.

The Scottish actor captioned the video: “Sharks will die out if we keep killing them at this rate. Then the balance of the oceans won’t work and then we are all screwed.”

But despite being praised for raising awareness, some users took the opportunity to slate McGregor over his new relationship with Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

One posted: “Yes, care about sharks and not about your family. You, selfish and dumb man!”

Another commented: “Homewrecker.”

The post came as McGregor’s teenage daughter appeared to make a dig at her father following his split from her mother Eve Mavrakis.

Esther McGregor, 16, posted a clip of herself strumming a guitar to her song, Made You A Man, which includes the lyrics: “I read some dumb s*** that I found online. Seeing those pictures, they’re making me cry. Happy birthday to me, am I right?

The “pictures” could be a reference to the images that surfaced in October last year of Ewan kissing Winstead at The Good Life Eatery in St John’s Wood, North West London.

The Star Wars actor publicly announced his split from Mavrakis at the Golden Globes where he paid tribute to both his estranged wife and Winstead.

Ewan was married to Mavrakis for a 22 years. They also share daughters Clara, 21, Jamyan, 16, and Anouk, six.
