‘It’s not for me’: Sam Smith doesn’t want to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding

Sam Smith may not have been invited to perform at the Royal Wedding – but if he had, he would have rejected the offer.

The singer insisted that playing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials wouldn’t be for him.

Smith, 25, said he would rather attend as a guest so he can admire Markle’s dress.

Speaking to KIIS FM he said: “I don’t know. I was joking ages ago when I said I’d love to, but I don’t know.

“I don’t think it would be for me, but I’d love to go and like look at the dress.”

He said the offer would be “amazing” but shut down reports he had been asked, saying: “No, that’s definitely not happening.”

Smith said the big day also falls on his birthday, so he wouldn't be able to attend.

He said: “I won’t be in the UK for the wedding [because] it’s my birthday, I’m going to be on tour, but I love the weddings.”

His latest comments come weeks after he said performing at the wedding of the year would be a “dream”.

He said: “I’m obsessed. I want to sing at the wedding. Oh my God I’d love to, it would be a dream.”

Londoner Stormzy previously revealed he would be keen to take to the stage to provide “a little acoustic for young Harry” at the reception in Windsor this Spring.

Speaking at the MOBO Awards he said: “I don't know how up the priority list I’ll be but hopefully after these three Mobos I’ll f****** move up a bit.”

Wedding details are currently under wraps but US Weekly reported that “Prince Harry has personally requested Ed [Sheeran] perform at his wedding”.
