Cleese, 76, said Craig was âtoo shortâ to play the iconic 007 agent but praised Pierce Brosnan and Sean Conneryâs outings.
Speaking on Australia's The Morning Show about Brosnan, Cleese said: âI thought he was a wonderful Bond I thought he was the best Bond since Connery because this little Welsh bandy-legged guy theyâve got at the moment is simply not tall enough, Iâm sorry. And he certainly didnât go to Eton.â
After reminding Cleese of Craigâs name, one news anchor asked: âNot a fan?â
Cleese â who starred in Bond films The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day â replied: âNo, his legs are too short.â
Craig â who has portrayed Bond in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre â is thought to be under contract for one more film but is rumoured to have already stepped down from the role.

Mark Strong recently hinted at Craigâs departure during an interview with Shortlist.
âDo you know what, Iâd have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because heâs a pal and that would have been great,â he said.
âBut I think heâs come to the end of his Bond time and so itâs probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great.â
