Sir Elton John reveals he has warned friend Ed Sheeran that his fame âwonât last foreverâ

Sir Elton John has revealed that he has previously warned Ed Sheeran that his fame âwonât last forever.â
The 71-year-old, who honoured Sheeran with the Global Success Award at this yearâs Brit Awards, told how he has discussed the nature of fame with the Shape of You singer.
John also admitted that the âheyday can never be replaced.â
Speaking on George Ezraâs podcast, he said: âYou have a heyday and you have a rest, and the heyday can never be replaced.
âAfter that I had the common sense to know I'm not going to have a No.1 every time straight away. I knew someone else would take over. It's cyclical.â
John, whose song Tiny Dancer is referenced in Sheeranâs Castle on the Hill, added: âEd will go through that and I've talked to him about it. I've said, âThere'll come a time where this won't happen every time and you have to accept thatââ.
He went to add that he had been stunned by the level of success in the charts experienced by Sheeran for hit song Shape of You, which was released last year.

John explained: âOn the (American radio) chart, which is the middle-of-the-road chart, Ed is still No.1 and Shape Of You is still in the chart.

âIt's like, "Why?" How many times do you want to listen to these things?â
The news comes after the showbiz legend reportedly âcancelled two Las Vegas residency dates to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markleâs wedding.â
The musical legend is said to have cancelled two performances at Caesars Palace on May 18 and May 19, which is the day of the royal wedding, according to The Sun.
This means that the Rocket Man would be free to attend or even perform at the nuptials taking place at St Georgeâs Chapel in Windsor Castle.
