Taylor Swift split from Tom Hiddleston over Emmy Awards invite ‘row’

Taylor Swift reportedly ended her relationship with Tom Hiddleston over a row about the Emmy Awards.

According to reports, the US pop star, 26, called time on her romance with the British heartthrob after he asked her to attend the big US ceremony with him.

Despite being known for her high profile relationships, some sources suggest that it was Swift who didn’t want to be in the ‘limelight’.

“It was fun while it lasted, but Taylor has now had enough,” a source told The Sun.

“She doesn’t want a serious relationship and that’s where it was heading. It was all far too public, in the end. Tom freaked her out with his love of the limelight.”

Hiddleston, 35, is nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Night Manager at the forthcoming US awards, which is one of his most high-profile nominations to date.

But it seems that Swift wasn’t keen to join him at the event as she has never walked the red carpet with a boyfriend before.

A source close to Hiddleston has suggested that it was the singer’s refusal to make an exception for him that caused problems.

“He’s done his duty, so he thought it was only fair she repays the favour herself and is by Tom’s side at the Emmys,” they told The Sun.

Swift began dating the Night Manager star in June, two weeks after she broke up with DJ Calvin Harris.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: “She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship.

"Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with.

"Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up."

The source added Hiddleston is "embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out”.

A separate source told People magazine, "It was an amicable split."
