Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson gives birth to first child

Ex Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson has announced that she has given birth to her first child.

The 33-year-old actress is best known for playing Sian Power between 2009 and 2011 on the ITV soap. Her other TV credits include Mr Selfridge,Cold Feet and the film Apostasy.

During her time on the Cobbles, the Salford-born star made history after being part of the long-running show’s first-ever lesbian storyline, when she and Brooke Vincent’s character, Sophie Webster, struck up a romance together.

Parkinson took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal that she had welcomed a baby girl last week.

The new mum proudly shared two adorable black and white images of the newborn sleeping and told her 72.9k followers that she had settled on the name Sadie.

“One whole week of Sadie” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

Her former castmates were among the first to send their congratulations and well wishes in the comments.

LucyFallon, who plays Bethany Platt, wrote: “Gorgeous. Hope you're all ok.”

Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe, cooed: “Oooooh wow congratulations. How wonderful. She's so beautiful.”

Agreeing, Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass, added: “Soooooo beautiful congratulations.”

Also chiming in was Lucy-Jo Hudson, who plays Katy Harris, writing: “Ah she is beautiful. Congratulations babe, so happy for you and your little family.”

Meanwhile, Kirsty-Leigh Porter, who plays Zoe Willson on Coronation Street and has also appeared on Emmerdale and Hollyoaks wrote: Oh Sach!! Huge congratulations to you all! I bet @leigh.farrow hasn’t left her alone has she! Welcome to the world little one. She’s a little gem. Lots of love”

The official Coronation Street Instagram account even got involved, writing: “Ahh congratulations Sacha!” followed by a red heart emoji.

Parkinson first announced that she was pregnant with her fiancé Jon in December by sharing a video of several Polaroid snaps on Instagram.

“Merry Christmas Eve, Huns...I have a feeling next year is going to be a wild one,” she wrote in the caption.
